Welcome to our website! We are a group of researchers working in the field of statistical genetics and bioinformatics, homed in the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, Faculty of Medicine, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. We pursue solving problems by methods with simple and elegant design, applicable and generalizable to a wide range of real-life scenarios.
In human genetics, we develop statistical and bioinformatics methods towards improving power of genetic association testing and disease prediction on various genetic datasets. We place a particular emphasis on leveraging the intrinsic data structure and biological information related to disease.
In virus genetics, we thrive to develop new statistical and computational frameworks for answering a wide range of questions surrounding virus evolution and adaptive immune response, such as evaluation of key mutations, epistasis testing, evolutionary rate model, codon optimization, and prediction of virus evolution and vaccine effectiveness.
This team is composed of researchers from diversified quantitative backgrounds, in collaboration with a wonderful group of clinical and biomedical scientists. We take great excitement to work together towards advancing knowledge in human genetics, virus evolution, and vaccinology.
